iOS: Secure connection in public WIFI

Quite some time I wondered if I shouldn’t sign up for a VPN to use in public WIFI.
First I thought I should go with Encrypt.me because of the auto-connect feature:

9to5mac: What’s the best VPN service for iOS?
„In Encrypt.me, you can set up a list of trusted networks, and it’ll auto-connect on any other networks.“

But as shown in the detailed-vpn-comparison of thatoneprivacysite.net there seems to be some privacy issues concerning Encrypt.me.

First in class seems to be Expressvpn and NordVPN. Certainly these services would be great for streaming via VPN, but the auto-connect feature only for not trusted networks is missing on both.

Therefore I will give Tunnelbear a chance as the auto-connect feature is available with this service (Trusted Networks: Let your Bear relax on chosen WiFi networks – TunnelBear).

The web presence of Tunnelbear seems to be authentic, there is no need to trick the customers into a plan like NordVPN is trying to with a fake counter. Also the user interface is nice and clean and paid plans are reasonably priced. I will give it a try.
